Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim to Debut in 2025, Could Rival Purported iPhone 17 Air: Report

Apple could shake up its iPhone lineup next year by introducing a new iPhone 17 Slim (or Air) model, according to recent reports. While it’s currently unclear whether Apple will replace its Plus model with a new ‘Slim’ model, a South Korean publication reports that Samsung is also considering the launch of a ‘slim’ Galaxy S25 handset. This purported Galaxy S25 Slim model is likely to be released in limited numbers, according to the report. The Galaxy S series typically includes a standard and Plus model, as well as an Ultra variant.

Samsung Might Have a New Galaxy S25 Phone in the Works

An ETNews report (in Korean) citing industry sources states that Samsung is planning to unveil a slim model as a follow-up to the Galaxy S25 series, which is expected to arrive in early 2025. Like the recently launched Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, this Galaxy S25 version will reportedly have a thin build. It could be released a few months after the Galaxy S25 series, according to the publication.

Samsung is reportedly considering a limited release for the purported Galaxy S25 Slim model, and will gauge the market’s response. The report states that if the handset receives a positive response from customers, then Samsung might change the Galaxy S26 series lineup, which is not expected to debut until 2026.

If these claims are accurate, the shift to a slimmer form factor would be the most notable design change Samsung has made to its Galaxy S family in the last four years. The South Korean brand’s Galaxy S series usually comprises a standard model alongside Plus and Ultra variants.

Meanwhile, Apple’s thinner phone is expected to debut sometime in the second half of 2025 as the iPhone 17 Slim — or iPhone 17 Air — as per recent reports. This handset could rival Samsung’s purported slim Galaxy S25 model.

Samsung has already confirmed that its Galaxy S25 series will be launched in the first half of next year, presumably in January. The trio is said to run on Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and is likely to ship with Galaxy AI features. A recent leak suggests that the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Ultra will arrive in four colourways while the Plus variant will be sold in five shades. They will reportedly sport low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) OLED panels built by Samsung Display using M13 organic materials.

Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition Confirmed to Be Available for Mac in Early 2025

Cyberpunk 2077, the first-person open-world sci-fi adventure game, was first unveiled in 2020. The game is currently available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. However, Mac users will soon be able to enjoy the game as well. During the announcement of the latest M4 chip-powered MacBook Pro laptops, Apple confirmed that the game will be available on Mac devices in early 2025 alongside a few more titles. Game developer CD Projekt RED confirmed that the Ultimate Edition of the game will be available to Mac users early next year.

Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition Coming to Silicon Macs

The Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will be available on Mac with Apple silicon chipsets in early 2025, according to a press note by the game developers. An exact release date has yet to be confirmed. This version will include the Phantom Liberty “spy-thriller” expansion. Mac users will be able to experience immersive features like path tracing, frame generation, and inbuilt Spatial Audio.

CD Projekt RED confirms that Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition will be available on the Mac App Store, GOG.com, Steam and Epic Games Store. Players who own Cyberpunk 2077 on Steam can access the Mac version without a new purchase.

Apple revealed in its M4 MacBook Pro announcement video that Assassin’s Creed Shadows, a game developed by Ubisoft Quebec, which is scheduled to launch in February next year, will be available to Mac users too.

Notably, Apple refreshed the MacBook Pro lineup with its latest 3nm M4 chipsets on Thursday. The 14-inch base model starts in India at Rs. 1,69,999, while the M4 Pro version is listed at Rs. 1,99,900. The 16-inch MacBook Pro with M4 Pro SoC is marked at Rs. 2,49,900, and the 16-inch M4 Max variant costs Rs. 3,49,900.

MacBook Air With M2 and M3 Chips Now Start With 16GB RAM

Apple has announced a RAM upgrade for the MacBook Air lineup alongside new MacBook Pro models with M4 chips. In a surprise move, the Cupertino-based company has doubled the base RAM configuration on M2 and M3 MacBook Air models to 16GB, from the current 8GB, without a corresponding price increase. Besides RAM, nothing else will change about the laptops. Both models will feature 13.6-inch Liquid Retina displays. The model with M3 offers 512GB storage, while the M2 version has 256GB storage.

MacBook Air Base Model Gets 16GB of RAM

During the Mac event on Wednesday (October 30), Apple announced that it has increased the base memory of its M2 and M3 MacBook Air models to 16GB without changing pricing. Both versions of the MacBook Air were sold with 8GB of RAM. The lineup still starts at $999 (roughly Rs. 83,000) in the US. It is offered in Midnight, Starlight, Silver, and Space Gray colours.

In India, the 13-inch MacBook Air with the M2 chipset is priced at Rs. 1,14,900 for the base 16GB RAM variant. The 13-inch MacBook Air with M3 chipset with 16GB RAM can be purchased for Rs. 1,34,900.

The increased memory will offer more resources for Apple Intelligence features announced in the macOS Sequoia update. It is likely to enhance app operation and multitasking capability as well. Apple launched the latest 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models with the M3 chipset in March this year. The brand is likely to bring new models with the M4 chip same time next year.

Beyond a RAM update, the hardware features of the MacBook Air will remain unchanged. They’ll keep the same 13.6-inch Liquid Retina panels with a peak brightness of 500nits. The M3 version packs 512GB SSD for storage, whereas the M2 starts at 256GB. The MacBook Air models also include MagSafe 3 charging port, and two Thunderbolt/ USB 4 ports for connectivity.

Vizio’s new Dolby Atmos soundbar is also a karaoke machine, because why not

Vizio has announced a new soundbar that doubles as a karaoke machine, offering singalong fanatics a sound system, two microphones, and access to 80,000 songs in a sleek and affordable package. The Vizio MicMe will ship with two wireless dynamic microphones that automatically activate the soundbar’s custom karaoke mode when removed from the included charging dock. Users will also be able to connect to other karaoke apps, such as Stingray. Users will also have the option of just singing over whatever’s playing on their smart TV, or streaming audio to sing along to over Bluetooth. And you can, of course, just use the MicMe as a typical soundbar for music, TV, and movies – the soundbar itself is a 30-inch 2.1 system that connects to an included wireless subwoofer, which we expect will offer more than enough fidelity and volume for a late-night ABBA sesh or two. (Image credit: Vizio) And the MicMe system even supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, so it’s actually pretty well-specced alongside the rest of the best soundbars. For further sound tuning, the MicMe system will integrate with the Vizio app – this app can also enable six vocal effects and nine ambient light colors for each of the microphones, adding a touch of personal flair to your living room performances. In terms of setup, the MicMe is compatible with Vizio’s own QuickFit system which allows for easy and tool-free attachment to Vizio TVs when wall-mounted. HDMI eARC handles the duties of connecting to your TV. Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more. The Vizio MicMe will be available from Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart among other retailers at a price of $349.99 (about £269 / AU$530), and the first units will ship from the end of November – at the time of writing, no specific release date has been confirmed, and we expect it to be a US and Canada launch only for now. We’re not quite sure if the Vizio MicMe will make it to our list of the best Dolby Atmos soundbars, but it certainly looks like a lot of fun, and the whole mic setup is a new one on us. And the price is impressive for something with this many features. We look forward to giving it a test. Well, some of us are looking forward to it more than others, admittedly. You might also like

EA CEO Suggests Apex Legends 2 Not Part of Plans as Season 22 Falls Short of Expectations

Electronic
Arts

is
likely
not
looking
to
work
on
an

Apex
Legends

sequel,
the
company
suggested
at
its
FY
2025
second-quarter
earnings
call
on
Tuesday.
EA
CEO
Andrew
Wilson,
in
response
to
a
question
about
a
potential
“Apex
2.0”
at
the
conference
call,
said
a
second
iteration
of
a
live
service
title
was
almost
never
as
successful
as
the
first
version,
and
maintained
that
EA’s
focus
was
on
continuing
to
support
Apex
Legends
players
with
seasonal
content
updates.

Apex
Legends
Falls
Short
of
Expectations
in
Q2
2024

EA

held
its

Q2
2025
earnings
call

on
Tuesday,
reporting
record
net
bookings
of
$2.079
billion
(roughly
Rs.
17,480
crore)
for
the
quarter.
The
strong
results
were
driven
by

EA
Sports

franchises
like
College
Football
25,
Madden
25
and

EA
Sports
FC
25
.
At
the
quarterly
earnings
call,
the
EA
CEO
touched
upon
live
service
title
Apex
Legends,
confirming
that
the
shooter
fell
short
of
expectations
in
the
quarter
following
the
launch
of
its
Season
22.

According
to
Wilson,
the
franchise
required
widespread
changes
to
re-engage
players
and
drive
live
service
growth.
“Following
changes
to
the
Battle
Pass
construct,
we
did
not
see
the
lift
in
monetization
we
had
expected,”
Wilson

said
at
the
earnings
call
.

“Two
things
have
become
clear
in
the
free-to-play
FPS
category.
First,
in
a
competitive
landscape
where
brand,
a
strong
core
player
base,
and
high
quality
mechanics
matter
more
than
ever,
Apex
has
proven
to
be
a
compelling
franchise
for
us
and
an
industry
stalwart,”
Wilson
said.

“Second,
to
drive
significant
growth
and
re-engagement,
large
systematic
change
is
required.
We
will
continue
to
focus
on
retention
and
breadth
of
content
in
service
of
our
global
community
as
we
work
towards
more
significant,
innovative
changes
in
the
future,”
he
added.

Apex
Legends
2
May
Not
Happen

However,
in
the

Q&A
session

at
the
earnings
call,
Wilson
appeared
to
rule
out
Apex
Legends
2.
In
response
to
a
question
about
the
need
for
an
“Apex
2.0”
rather
than
an
incremental
update,
Wilson
said
that
EA’s
objective
was
to
deliver
season-by-season
updates
and
continue
to
bring
creative
features
to
the
existing
game
instead
of
an
overhaul.

“But
what
I
would
say
is
that
typically,
what
we
have
seen
again,
in
the
context
of
live
service
driven
games
at
scale
is
the
version
two
thing
has
almost
never
been
as
successful
as
the
version
one
thing,”
Wilson
said.
“And
so
actually,
the
objective
right
now
is
to
ensure
that
we
are
continuing
to
support
the
global
player
base
that
we
have
and
deliver
the
new
innovative
creative
content
on
a
season-by-season
basis,
as
well
as
build
these
other
things,
but
build
them
in
a
way
that
players
do
not
have
to
give
up
the
progress
that
they’ve
made
or
the
investment
that
they
have
put
into
the
existing
ecosystem,”
he
added.

The
chief
executive
said
he
did
not
believe
a
“separate”
experience
was
needed
to
re-engage
Apex
Legends
players.

“Anytime
we
call
a
global
player
community
to
have
to
choose
between
the
investments
they’ve
made
to
date
and
future
innovation
creativity,
that’s
never
a
good
place
to
put
our
community
in.
And
so
our
objective
will
be
to
continue
to
innovate
in
the
core
experience,
and
you’re
seeing
that
from
season
to
season
now
as
our
seasons
get
progressively
bigger,
and
we’re
changing
kind
of
key
modalities
at
play
within
those
seasons
and
then
build
additional
opportunities
for
engagement
in
different
modalities
of
play
beyond
what
the
current
core
mechanic
delivers.
And
we
think
we
can
do
those
two
things
together,
and
we
don’t
believe
we
have
to
separate
the
experience
in
order
to
do
so.
But
again,
the
team
is
working
through
this
now,”
Wilson
said.

Apex
Legends
Season
22

Apex
Legends,
while
still
a
popular
online
shooter
with
a
dedicated
player
base,
has
experienced
a
decline
in
player
numbers
in
the
five
years
since
it
launched
in
2019.
In
August,
EA
launched
Apex
Legends
Season
22
with
new
features
like
more
modes,
a
new
map,
and
new
a
new
anti-cheat
system.

However,
net
bookings
for
the
game
fell
short
of
EA’s
expectations
in
Q2
2025,
even
as
it
extended
freemium
access
across
the
entirety
of
the
first
half
of
the
Season
22
Battle
Pass,
the
company
reported
in
its
financial
results
for
the
quarter.
Consequently,
EA
said
it
had
adjusted
the
rest
of
FY
2025
to
reflect
lower
than
expected
engagement
for
the
game.

Despite
the
lowered
expectations
for
Apex
Legends,
however,
the
company
announced
it
was
on
track
to
maintain
mid-single
digit
growth
for
its
core
live
service
titles.
